It’s amazing how much can change over the course of a year.

This time last year I was in the third trimester of my pregnancy with Lucy and we were busy packing before our big move to a new home 15 minutes away. Little did we know that move would almost be thwarted by Snowmaggedon 2019 which, as anyone in the Seattle area will tell you, is a once-yearly snow event that shuts down cities and schools and leaves us all wondering how we’ll ever survive the two inches on the ground. :)

Now, in true fairness, last year’s snowstorm was actually pretty intense and had a lot more snow and complications, but I digress.

As I was looking ahead to the coming weeks, it dawned on me that our little Lucy is going to be ONE in just over a month. She is such a light to us, and I am really looking forward to celebrating her with family and friends. Never have I seen a baby be so excited to be around other babies. I think she’s probably happy to have someone closer to her size, because she is used to trying to catch up to her big sisters all the time. I also think, though, that her personality just lends itself to being so loving toward others. She is quick to smile, but it takes a LOT of work to get her to laugh. She’s our little observer, miss independent, and I can’t wait to see how she continues to grow this year.

It’s never too early to start planning for a party, and I thought it would be great to try and take care of her invitations early. In the past I’ve always designed my own cards, but this past year it’s been tricky because #threekids.

I recently came across Basic Invite and instantly fell in love with their card designs and options. As a photographer, one of my biggest priorities when ordering photo cards is quality of my images. It’s always a toss up when you order cards online whether the photos will turn out clear and crisp. It was a relief to see that there is an option to receive a single card first as a sample, rather than having to order in bulk and just crossing your fingers that it all looks okay.

Our card arrived last week, and I was so thrilled to see the quality of her invitation! Not only was the printing clean, the quality of the cardstock was perfect. Bonus feature: the envelope had a peel and seal sticker rather than the regular adhesive. It’s the small things, folks! :)

As someone who likes to have total control over how my invites look, I really appreciated how easy it was to customize the invitation on their website. I went right to their first birthday invitations, chose a style that I liked, and then was able to change all of the wording and customize the colors (literally 180 color choices!). I think the whole process took me less than ten minutes to complete. It was such a huge relief to have it all taken care of, knowing that the design was unique and fit what we were looking for.

Basic Invite also offers a wide range of options for couples planning their weddings. From free wedding websites, to cheap save the date magnets and cards, to full wedding invitation suites…all of their designs are so lovely. The aesthetic they offer is a mix of modern designs and classic elegance. Their options are simply beautiful and affordable, which is a hard combination to have. Sometimes the more affordable options also mean your invitations or save the dates look just like everyone else’s, and if you want something more unique you end up having to pay a lot more. Basic Invite offers gorgeous paper goods and a level of detail in their branding that is hard to find with anyone else, without having to break the bank.

Whether you are looking for save the date cards, wedding stationary, birthday invitations, or are already thinking ahead to the next holiday season, I am thrilled to have partnered up with Basic Invite to offer you all 20% on your order! Make sure to use code “KKP20” when you are ready to check out and the discount will be applied. Can’t wait to see what you choose to design!
